Getting Started Overview

HYDRA ExperienceNet Venue Documentation

Welcome to the HYDRA ExperienceNet venue documentation. This guide is intended for venue IT teams, facilities managers, and managed network providers preparing for a HYDRA deployment.

HYDRA ExperienceNet is a purpose-built ecosystem for high-fidelity immersive experiences, designed for scalability and mobility in venue-based deployments such as museums, exhibitions, and public installations. The infrastructure requirements in this document are sized for real-time VR streaming, the most demanding use case. Any less demanding experience (flat-screen displays, interactive kiosks, non-VR content) works within the same infrastructure with relaxed requirements.

Deployment Types

HYDRA supports the full spectrum of deployment durations:

Type Duration Examples
Event Single-day or multi-day Festivals, conferences, brand activations
Temporary Exhibition Weeks to months Museum exhibitions, trade shows, touring installations
Permanent Installation Years Museum permanent collections, visitor centers, showrooms
Co-Working / Shared Venue Multi-year Shared infrastructure alongside other tenants

The technical requirements described in this documentation apply equally to all deployment types. The infrastructure rider is duration-agnostic. All deployment combinations (A+A through B+B) work at any duration.

Quick Start: Site Assessment

Answer these questions to determine your deployment configuration:

# Question If Yes If No
1 Is there power at the experience location? Proceed to question 2 A generator is required, contact HYDRA
2 Can we use the venue's existing network infrastructure? We integrate into your infrastructure (requires dedicated VLAN + API access) HYDRA supplies a managed router (venue provides ethernet uplink + power)
3 Is wired ethernet available? Best option, proceed to question 4 WiFi/cellular possible for flat-screen only, not VR
4 Can the infrastructure provide at least 100 Mbps (200 Mbps preferred) downstream per VR headset? Remote compute (HYDRA District) is an option On-site compute required
5 Should compute be on-site or hosted remotely by HYDRA? See Deployment Model for details See Deployment Model for details

Your answers determine which deployment combination applies. See the Deployment Model section for full details.
